Neck Lift New York City
Introduction to Neck Lift
Creating Facial Balance & Harmony
You’d be surprised at how much of a youthful difference tighter skin will make. Usually, in older patients, the muscles and skin in their neck loosen up and create what so many unfavorably refer to as a “Turkey Neck”. William Samson, MD in New York City strives to create a rejuvenated appearance in his patients with a simple Neck Lift. If you are interested in the facets of a neck lift or how it can help your look, we have included our guide to the procedure below:

Let’s start with the basics
What is Neck Lift?
A Neck Lift (medically referred to as a lower rhytidectomy or submental lipectomy) is a procedure that helps enhance the appearance of your neck. Although it is normally performed in conjunction with a Facelift, a neck lift can also be performed entirely on its own. Different techniques can be used to achieve the same effect, however some last longer than others, which is why this procedure by Dr. Samson is so popular.
Some of the more frequent concerns treated with a neck lift are:
- Excess fat
- Too much skin
- Turkey wattle neck

Main Advantages
What are the Benefits of Neck Lift?
Dr. Samson has seen his patients in NYC enjoy the following benefits from their Neck Lift:
- Accomplishes what diet and exercise cannot
- Improves confidence and self-esteem
- Less excess skin
- Minimal scarring
- More youthful appearance
- Shorter recovery period
- Smoother skin

What to expect on the day of surgery
When you come in for your Neck Lift, you will first be administered medication to make you more comfortable. In most cases, it will be local anesthesia, but depending on what is discussed with Dr. Samson, it may also be general anesthesia or intravenous sedation.
Once sedated, Dr. Samson will make a tiny incision behind your ear and under your chin. If fat is needed to be removed, a small tube attached to a vacuum will be inserted underneath your skin to suck out the excess fat from beneath your chin and around the jawline. After the fat has been removed, sutures are used to tighten up the platysma muscles. In some extreme cases, part of the lax muscle may be removed or a laser-assisted device is used to tighten the skin, improving the overall appearance. Any excess skin will also be removed. Once he is satisfied with the results, Dr. Samson will close the incisions with additional sutures. A very thin tube may be temporarily left in the incision to help drain excess fluid and blood that collects.
