Introduction to C-Scar Revision
Innovative Body Contouring
Parenthood is a huge transition. With a new child to care for, you might feel that your self-image concerns can and should fall by the wayside. If your child was born by Cesarean section, you might find yourself having conflicting feelings about the C-scar left behind.
This is normal. With time, a C-Scar might improve. But if your C-Scar still bothers you and causes you discomfort, it might be time to explore a C-Scar revision.
At William Samson, MD, in New York City, we aim to help new parents with the best C-scar revision results so they can feel comfortable once more in their healed bodies. Read on to learn more about whether a C-scar revision procedure is right for you.
Let’s start with the basics
What is C-Scar Revision?
A C-scar revision is a cosmetic procedure to open up and revise hypertrophic C-scars so that they can heal properly with minimal scarring. The procedure can be completed in one day, allowing patients to return home the same day to recover.
Dr. Samson will be able to review your scar and assess whether a C-Scar revision procedure would be appropriate for your condition. Please schedule a consultation with William Samson, MD, today!
Main Advantages
What Are the Benefits of C-Scar Revision?
Patients seek out Dr. Samson for a C-Scar Revision for the following benefits:
- Reduced hypertrophic appearance of scar (less puffiness)
- Improved appearance and self-image
- Ability to wear more form-fitting clothing
What to Expect on the Day of C-Scar Revision Surgery
When you come in for your C-Scar revision, you will be administered some anesthesia, either general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, depending on what is discussed during your consultation. When you are fully sedated, Dr. Samson will begin strategically re-opening the C-Scar.
A full C-scar revision involves re-opening the scar to remove excess scar tissue, lifting the abdominal skin until each skin fold is even and aligned, and stitching the skin together using advanced medical techniques to reduce scarring.
What’s the First Step?
The first step in getting a C-Scar revision in New York City is to contact the office of William Samson, MD. When you come in for your consultation, you will be able to meet with Dr. Samson and discuss what you’re looking to achieve from the procedure. He will also be able to answer any questions you may have, examine your stomach and body type, and ask you questions about your medical history. You should be very open and honest when talking about your medical history, as this will help Dr. Samson make the best decisions when creating your surgical and treatment plan.
Once your plan has been made and you agree with it, you will meet with our Patient Coordinator, who will help you select your surgical date. You will also be given a list of instructions that will help give you a more optimal surgical experience.
Who Are the Best Candidates for a C-Scar Revision?
The best candidates to receive a C-Scar Revision procedure are usually experiencing the following:
- A puffy or raised hypertrophic C-Scar
- Discomfort with their appearance
- Inability to wear certain clothing due to skin irritation, even though the body has healed from childbirth
- Are you not planning on having future children
- Are not currently on medications that might affect treatment and recovery
Please inform Dr. Samson if you have plans to become pregnant or lose a significant amount of weight in the future. If you have had previous abdominal surgery, scarring may limit the results of your abdominoplasty or breast surgery.
C-Scar Revision Recovery
After your C-Scar revision surgery, you will be able to return home to recover in peace. However, you should have a friend or family member available to give you a ride home. You will have dressings or bandages applied to your sutures, and you may also be wrapped in an elastic bandage or compression garment to minimize swelling and give your abdomen additional support.
You will likely be sore during the first week or so and should plan on resting and taking some downtime the first few days post-surgery to reduce scarring and avoid any excess bruising or swelling. You may be able to return to work after a few days, but only if you have light work; there should be absolutely no heavy lifting until Dr. Samson clears you to do so. Most patients require a few weeks of recovery before they can do even gentle tasks.
How Much Does C-Scar Revision Cost in New York City, NY?
The cost of a C-Scar revision in NYC depends on several factors, including the amount of fat and tissue required to be removed and the anesthetic choice for your surgery. After meeting with Dr. Samson and discussing everything, our Patient Coordinator will be able to give you a breakdown of the full price of your treatment.
